Currently, MANA has two part-time staff members: executive director and conference coordinator. Please feel free to contact either of them using the email address listed here. 

Executive Director

Geradine SimkinsGeradine Simkins, DEM, CNM, MSN served as MANA's Interim Executive Director for two years and was hired as MANA's first Executive Director in June 2012. Her strengths are passion, vision, leadership and action. She is responsible for day to day operations of the organization, leadership and oversight of all MANA projects, and supervision of staff and consultants. 

Geradine is a midwife, entrepreneur, writer, visionary and activist who has provided midwifery care in a variety of settings and is experienced in management and administration of health care programs and projects. Geradine has over thirty five years experience working in maternal and child healthcare, women’s healthcare, and with community-based programs. She is the owner of Birthways Consulting in Traverse City, Michigan and has worked as a maternal and child health consultant and trainer, program designer, curriculum developer, and educator for a variety of communities including American Indians and migrant farmworkers. Geradine served on the MANA Board of Directors for fourteen years in three positions including Midwest Region 4 Representative, 2nd Vice-President and President before assuming the position of Executive Director. Geradine published her first book in April 2011, an anthology of memoirs entitled "Into These Hands, Wisdom from Midwives."

Conference Coordinator

Camille AbbeCamille Abbe, is responsible for logistical and administrative arrangement for all MANA annual conferences, coordination of audio visual equipment, meeting rooms, catering services, and lodging arrangements. She is responsible for on-site coordination with facility staff, troubleshooting, delegation of tasks, conflict resolution, money management, and is responsive to the needs of conference speakers and attendees. She also has responsibility for debriefing and post-conference reporting. Her direct supervisor is the 2nd Vice President.

Camille has a background in public relations and event planning, and has been coordinating national conferences for MANA since 2009. She is also a trained birth doula and is a new student midwife. Camille lives in the Boston area and spends down time making pottery, gardening and exploring the woods around their solar-powered cabin in Vermont, along with her partner Matthew and their two dogs, Maggie and Pepa.
