E  State uses NARM Exam as part of licensure process.  CPM  Reciprocity of CPM credential or CPM plus state specific requirements accepted for licensure, certification, documentation or registration. * Certified Midwives (CMs) who are certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB), are the only direct-entry midwives permitted to practice in these states.

Note: Midwives practicing in unregulated states have no legal, regulatory protection.
